Our Focus

How is a person wired? How does a person work?  The very same person who can be so kind and caring, with the best of intentions, purity of heart and clarity of mind, can be faced with real struggles, whether it’s waking up with intense feelings of anxiety, not being able to control what and how much to eat, low self-esteem, uncontrolled outbursts of anger, struggles with honesty.  We’re a mystery!  We’re walking contradictions.  We’re so big, we’re so great.  We’re so small.  Who are we, what are we?  Who is the real me?

The key for a successful life is understanding who is the real me, what do I really want and how can I actualize that in my day-to-day life.  This is so basic to Judaism.

In the olden days, the answers to these questions were given over through everything a child was exposed to at home, shul and school.

Today’s generation is different.  We need information presented to us in another way.  The uniqueness of this program is that the topics are organized in a manner appropriate for our times.  There are clear steps, definitions and ‘how to’s.

Our focus is to give over this basic part of Judaism in a way our generation can receive it so the information and skills gained can be put to use in day-to-day life, enabling us to make the changes we want to make.

Leadership

Rav Yitzchak Berkovits

Rav Berkovits received a strong mesora from his parents and the yeshivos he attended.  Today Rav Berkovits is an internationally known and respected Rosh Kollel of The Jerusalem Kollel, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Aish HaTorah, Rav of the anglo community in Sanhedria HaMeurhevet, Jerusalem, leader of many other organizations and husband, father and grandfather to a beautiful family.   R’ Berkovits saw the need for a structured Kochos HaNefesh Torah learning program. Following a step-by-step curriculum, students learn how to apply basic Torah concepts in their day-to-day lives to gain more control over their behaviors, thoughts and emotions, thus increasing the positive and decreasing the negative.
